ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania shared the latest developments regarding Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James as he progresses toward his return this season.
At 40 years old, James has yet to play this season due to ongoing recovery from right-side sciatica. He is taking a cautious and deliberate approach as he aims for his historic 23rd NBA season.
Despite James' absence, the Lakers have managed to perform well on the court.
During a recent segment on ESPN's NBA Today, Charania explained what lies ahead for James' comeback:
"LeBron James has been working out individually, and I'm told that the next step for him is 5-on-5 live play," Charania said.
"So, it's unclear when he will be able to get that live action while the team is on the road, potentially doing it with the G League South Bay team or do the Lakers and LeBron wait for the team to get back on November 16 and then the live play process can begin then."
The exact timing for James' participation in full-contact practice remains uncertain.
LeBron James is progressing in his recovery, with 5-on-5 practice as the next milestone before he can rejoin the Lakers on the court, though the timeline for this remains unclear.
