Tiffany Haddish opened up about the highly anticipated sequel to the 2017 hit comedy Girls Trip in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly. The actress, 45, revealed that plans are underway to start filming, possibly in spring 2026.

“We had a meeting last week... I’m telling it. They were saying we [are] gonna start shooting probably next year.”

Haddish expressed excitement about the project, commenting on the fun dynamic with her co-stars. The original film starred Haddish alongside Regina Hall, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Queen Latifah, following four friends reconnecting on a trip to New Orleans for the Essence Music Festival.

“She ready,” Haddish joked, followed by, “I think it’s gonna be great. I think it’s going to be so much fun. Me and the girls were all talking. It was so funny, it was so good.”

The success of Girls Trip was a breakthrough for Haddish, boosting her fame significantly. Earlier in 2025, producer Will Packer confirmed development of the sequel, mentioning the addition of new characters and an exotic setting.

“We actually are looking at doing an exotic locale — I can’t reveal it right now, but I do have a script for the first time,” Packer stated during a March interview.
