San Jose forward William Eklund will miss his second consecutive game on Wednesday when the Sharks face the Seattle Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena. The Pacific Division leaders will look to extend their four-game point streak without one of their top performers.
Eklund, who is tied for second on the team with 11 points, remained in San Jose as he continues recovering from a lower-body injury. The issue also kept him out of Sunday’s 3–2 shootout loss to the Detroit Red Wings.
“He’s day-to-day but trending in the right direction,” said Sharks coach Ryan Warsofsky.
Warsofsky added that it remains uncertain whether Eklund will be placed on injured reserve, with upcoming home games scheduled against the Winnipeg Jets on Friday and the Florida Panthers on Saturday.
The 23-year-old has been performing at a career-best pace, posting four goals and five assists from October 23 to 30. Alongside Alexander Wennberg and Philipp Kurashev, Eklund formed one of the Sharks’ most effective lines, combining solid defense with consistent offensive pressure.
In the Sharks’ 3–2 overtime victory over the Colorado Avalanche last Saturday, Eklund logged nearly 21 minutes of ice time, continuing to show his value before the injury setback.
William Eklund’s absence due to a lower-body injury challenges the Sharks as they face the Kraken, though his recovery shows signs of progress.
