Jacobs ‘Proud’ to Work on Neom Project Linked to Forced Evictions

Civil engineering company Jacobs has announced its involvement in the Neom port project Oxagon, calling itself “proud” to participate despite human rights concerns linked to the region.

The firm stated it was selected to deliver technical and environmental advisory services to DataVolt as part of a $5 billion (£3.8 billion) initiative aimed at creating a sustainable and net-zero data center ecosystem.

“We are proud to be working on the Oxagon port project in Neom,” the company said.

DataVolt’s plans include the construction of a new artificial intelligence factory campus in Oxagon—an industrial city within the broader Neom megaproject. Oxagon is intended to become a hub for advanced manufacturing and shipping.

The port’s location provides direct access northward to the Suez Canal and the Mediterranean, with southern routes connecting to the Red Sea, enabling trade with Africa and Asia.

“The campus will run entirely on renewable energy, using advanced cooling systems and energy-efficient architecture to minimize its environmental impact,” Jacobs added.

According to Jacobs, the facility’s net-zero design will help meet rising global demand for AI data processing while keeping carbon emissions low.
