Bus 13 Cancellations Cause Concern in Clondalkin

The National Transport Authority (NTA) has been urged to address ongoing public transport problems in Clondalkin after numerous complaints were raised at a recent community meeting. Residents reported persistent disruptions and unreliable service across the area.

Councillor Darragh Adelaide emphasized the severity of the issue, noting that the 13 bus route through Clondalkin has become one of Dublin’s most frequently cancelled services.

“The 13 coming through Clondalkin was listed as one of the most cancelled buses in Dublin. These issues affect many people, particularly older residents who are left waiting in the cold, people with disabilities, parents with children, and commuters trying to reach work.”

On Wednesday, October 15, the 13 bus was cancelled 21 times within a single day, amounting to roughly 13% of the day’s scheduled service. Most of the cancellations occurred near the Grange Castle–Mountjoy Square route’s starting point.

Councillor Eoin Ó Broin also highlighted another problem: the bus occasionally skips stops in Bawnogue, an area currently under construction, to make up for lost time and avoid NTA-imposed fines for late arrivals.

“What can happen is that the bus skips Bawnogue in order to get back on track because when they’re late, they get fined by the NTA.”

Key Issues Identified

Author’s Summary: Clondalkin residents are pressing for NTA action as repeated cancellations and skipped stops on Bus 13 disrupt daily travel and leave commuters stranded.
