Kazakhstan Achieves Record Agricultural Growth in 2025

Kazakhstan reported a robust agricultural performance in 2025, harvesting 27.1 million tons of grain despite a decrease in wheat planting areas, Agriculture Minister Aidarbek Saparov announced at a government meeting in November.
The agricultural season showed consistent growth across various sectors, according to the Prime Minister’s press service. Saparov noted:
“This year has been record-breaking not only for grain, but also for high-yield and high-demand crops such as legumes and oilseeds, which became the focus of diversification efforts.”
Harvest Overview
- Grain harvesting is complete nationwide, with farmers collecting 27.1 million tons from 16 million hectares.
- The average grain yield reached 17 centners per hectare.
- Wheat production totaled 20.3 million tons from 12.2 million hectares, exceeding 2024 figures by half a million tons despite a reduction of 900,000 hectares due to crop diversification.
- Barley production remained steady at approximately 4 million tons.
- Legume harvest reached 1 million tons for the first time.
- Oilseed harvest set a record at 4.3 million tons, with harvesting ongoing.

Cotton output rose by 42% to 428,000 tons, boosted by modern techniques like drip irrigation.
