President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev introduced a plan to employ the most talented foreign graduates from Kazakh universities, enabling them to start their professional careers within Kazakhstan. He announced this initiative at the Strategic Partners Forum, Kazakhstan – Territory of Academic Education.
Currently, over 31,000 foreign students study at Kazakh universities, marking a national record. The government aims to raise this number to 100,000 by 2029 by easing visa rules and improving education quality.
This employment program will allow top international graduates to remain in Kazakhstan and contribute to the national economy. The country also plans to increase the presence of foreign university branches, especially in technical fields.
“The opening of branches of foreign universities is fully in line with our goal of developing engineering and IT education,” said President Tokayev.
Kazakhstan hosts three Lu Ban workshops, which provide practical engineering training. There is particular attention on preparing skilled specialists for the nuclear energy industry.
“Our task is to ensure a direct link between education and science and the real sector of the economy.”
