Tim David smashed the longest six ever recorded in T20 International cricket, helping Australia post a commanding total of 186 in the third T20 match against India in Hobart on Sunday night.
After Travis Head and Josh Inglis were dismissed early, Tim David came to the crease and tore through India’s bowling attack, reaching a half-century off just 23 balls. He powered Indian spinner Axar Patel’s deliveries to all corners of Bellerive Oval.
David hit a massive six that soared on course to leave the stadium but instead struck the Ninja Stadium sign on top of the David Boon Stand.
The six travelled an estimated 129 metres, the longest six ever in T20 internationals according to Fox Cricket’s statisticians, who calculated this distance as if the ball had not hit the sign.
Fox Cricket’s commentator Mark Howard exclaimed: “That’s coming into the commentary box! It was nearly in the Derwent (River)!”
