Marvel Rivals’ Danny Koo Shares Insights on Zombie Mode and Future Plans

Marvel Games' Executive Producer Danny Koo, leading Marvel Rivals, spoke exclusively at gamescom asia x Thailand Game Show about the game's evolving roadmap nearly 10 months after launch.

Introduction of Zombie Mode

Marvel Rivals is expanding with its first PvE experience called Marvel Zombie Mode. This limited-time event is described by Koo as a "testbed" featuring five playable characters fighting waves of undead foes across New York, culminating in a battle against the Queen of the Dead.

“It’s the first PvE mode for Marvel Rivals. It only has five characters right now. It’s just like a testbed to see what players like, how the system works, and hopefully in the future we’ll deploy more PvE mode based on data collected from this round of PvE event.”

The mode is a collaboration with Marvel Animation, using assets directly from the show, including a zombie Namor and the Queen of the Dead, with costumes closely matching the animation.

Rapid Hero Release Schedule and Quality-of-Life Improvements

Koo highlighted the studio's ambitious pace of releasing one new hero per month and shared plans for upcoming quality-of-life enhancements aimed at improving the player experience.

Looking Ahead

Marvel Rivals aims to refine its PvE content based on player feedback from Zombie Mode while continuing its rapid content pipeline, a notable achievement in the hero shooter genre.

Summary: Danny Koo reveals Marvel Rivals’ strategic introduction of Zombie Mode as a PvE test, an aggressive hero release cadence, and planned improvements to enhance gameplay quality and player engagement.
