Spitfire Joins Remembrance Sunday in County Durham

A full-size, hand-built reproduction Spitfire MK IX will serve as a powerful tribute to the courage and sacrifice of those who served in past and present conflicts this Remembrance Sunday.

The only hand-built, full-scale Spitfire MK IX reproduction will be exhibited in Millennium Place, Durham City, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 9.

Commemoration Significance

Marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Britain in 2025, Armed Forces Champion Cllr Andrew Harrison aimed to create a memorable event for Remembrance Day.

With support from Squadron Leader (Retired) James A Cowan MBE and Simply Spitfire, the aircraft was secured as a fitting memorial.

Remembrance Parade

The Spitfire display will be featured along the route of Durham City's annual Remembrance Parade, scheduled from 10:00 AM to noon on the same day.
