Tickets for the EuroNight service will be available starting 4 November. A new night train is proposed to connect Switzerland, Denmark, and Sweden directly. The project awaits approval from the Swiss Parliament.
If approved, the night train will operate three times a week beginning mid-April 2026. Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) announced the train will run from Basel to Copenhagen and Malmö.
A spokesperson from SBB stated the service “makes climate-friendly travel to Northern Europe even more accessible” and “meets the growing demand for sustainable, cross-border mobility.”
The train route spans about 1,400 kilometers, stopping at key cities including Freiburg (Breisgau), Karlsruhe, Mannheim, Frankfurt (Main) Süd, and Hamburg in Germany, and Padborg, Kolding, Odense, Høje Taastrup, and Copenhagen Airport in Denmark.
This new night train will enhance sustainable transport options between Central and Northern Europe, supporting increased demand for eco-friendly, international rail travel.
“Climate-friendly travel to Northern Europe even more accessible,” emphasizes SBB’s commitment to sustainability.
Author’s summary: A new night train between Basel and Malmö aims to boost sustainable, cross-border travel with thrice-weekly departures, covering 1,400 km in about 16 hours starting April 2026.
