Geno Smith showed toughness on Thursday night, returning to the game after an injury scare during the Las Vegas Raiders’ 10-7 loss. The Raiders fell to 2-7 on the season following a disappointing performance against the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football.
Smith experienced his first Raiders-Broncos rivalry game in Week 10 but faced relentless pressure from Denver’s defense. The Broncos recorded six sacks on the veteran quarterback, part of a historic pass rush. Smith ended the game with 143 scoreless yards and one interception, while the Raiders punted eight times and scored only seven points in Denver.
Despite an injury that forced him briefly off the field, Smith returned with a noticeable limp. He expressed his commitment to his team:
“I never wanted to leave my teammates out there. I feel it’s a big responsibility of mine to be out there and do whatever I can to help,” Smith said, according to ESPN’s Ryan McFadden.
The two-time Pro Bowl quarterback finished the game but failed to advance the offense against Denver. The Raiders’ offensive troubles persisted in Week 10, scoring under 10 points for the fourth time this season — the most in the NFL. Las Vegas totaled only 188 yards on Thursday.
Following Ashton Jeanty’s first-quarter rushing touchdown, the Raiders were shut out for the remaining 48 minutes. Both teams showed difficulty executing in a sloppy prime-time contest, with each committing more penalties (11) than first downs (10).
Despite injury and a tough defensive challenge, Geno Smith exemplified grit but the Raiders’ offensive struggles continued to hinder their success.
