Alan Carr, winner of Celebrity Traitors, was confronted about the tension with friend and co-star Paloma Faith, which became a major talking point during the BBC series.
Alan admitted that betraying Paloma, who was also a Traitor on the show, was “awful” and “really hurt.” He publicly apologized to her on the spin-off series Uncloaked, saying he was “so sorry.”
“It was awful. So awful, and weird because I love Paloma. I'm a fan of her music, I've been a fan of her for ages and we're friends, it absolutely, really hurt.”
Paloma expressed her sadness over the situation and became emotional while explaining why Alan was still a worthy winner despite the betrayal.
Earlier in the series, Paloma was shocked when she was eliminated (“murdered”) by the Traitors. Finding out that her close friend Alan was behind it left her furious. This sparked repeated questions from other contestants and viewers alike, asking how Alan could betray her.
After being announced the winner, Alan broke down with feelings of guilt for having to lie throughout the game. He won the prize money for his charity, surpassing co-stars David Olusoga and Nick Mohammed.
During a live on-air moment following the finale, Alan took time to explain his internal conflict and the emotional toll the betrayal took on him.
Although Alan Carr’s betrayal of Paloma Faith on Celebrity Traitors caused pain, he openly apologized and showed genuine remorse, highlighting the emotional complexity behind the game.
