The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced on Thursday the ordination of Gérald Caussé as the newest member of its Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. Caussé, originally from Bordeaux, France, served as the church’s presiding bishop for the past decade.
As presiding bishop, Caussé oversaw humanitarian aid, welfare programs, tithing and fast offerings, physical facilities, and the management of membership records. Prior to this, he was a counselor in the Presiding Bishopric from 2012 to 2015 and served as a General Authority Seventy between 2008 and 2012.
Caussé is the fourth apostle born outside the United States, joining Dieter F. Uchtdorf (Czech Republic), Ulisses Soares (Brazil), and Patrick Kearon (England).

He was called on Thursday, November 6, 2025, and ordained the same day by President Dallin H. Oaks and the other members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles."
Caussé's appointment highlights the church’s ongoing global representation at its highest leadership levels.
