Ruby and James’ Story in the Book
At the end of the first book, James cheats on Ruby, which leaves her distraught. The second book begins with Ruby miserable and taking a break from school. She eventually visits James after learning of his mother’s death, where he apologizes, but Ruby leaves nonetheless.
In the following weeks, Ruby supports her pregnant friend Lydia, celebrates New Year’s with her family, and gradually starts moving forward. James, meanwhile, is determined to show his sincerity through his actions.
