£22m M4 Junction 17 Upgrade

Bidding has opened for the £22m M4 Junction 17 upgrade, a project aimed at improving traffic flow and reducing congestion.

The project, set to begin construction in 2027, will involve fully signalising, widening, and upgrading the junction to handle future growth in traffic volumes.

Funding for the project has been secured through the Government's Major Road Network programme.

Wiltshire Council said the works will "maximise and optimise capacity of the junction within the bounds of the existing highway" and avoid piecemeal upgrades over coming years.

Author's summary: M4 Junction 17 upgrade to improve traffic flow.
