Cochrane Could Host 2026 Ironman 70.3 Calgary
Cochrane may become the new location for the 2026 Ironman 70.3 Calgary triathlon, pending approval from the town council. The event organizers, Platinum Racing Events, proposed relocating after construction made Harmony Park unavailable.
Event Details
The two-day triathlon is planned for July 25–26, 2026, with setup starting on July 24. Now in its 17th year, the race typically attracts around 1,100 athletes from as many as 26 countries, plus over 500 spectators and 300 volunteers.
Around 40% of participants are expected to travel more than 300 kilometres to compete. Last year, athletes came from 16 different countries.
Race Course and Activities
- Swimming: 1.9 kilometres at Ghost Lake
- Cycling: 90 kilometres on rural roads north of Cochrane
- Running: 21.1 kilometres along Cochrane’s pathways and river corridor
A relay option for teams of two or three is also available.

The main race day is July 26, with the Historic Cochrane Ranche proposed as the event headquarters.
