Award-winning actor Ethan Hawke’s first visit to Miami was unlike that of a typical tourist. Rather than the usual sunglasses and beach plans—though those remain on his list—Hawke arrived wearing an espresso brown suit paired with crimson glasses on the red carpet.

This year at the Miami Film Festival GEMS, held at Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus, Hawke was honored with the Virtuoso Award. He joined Variety's Ramin Setoodeh for a conversation celebrating his three-decade career achievements in the film industry.
While the Virtuoso Award is a remarkable accolade, Hawke views it not merely as an addition to his numerous honors but as motivation to continue his craft.
“You just want another chance to keep playing. I’m most interested in what I’m going to do tomorrow,” Hawke said.

Hawke's acting journey began with his role as Ben Crandall in Explorers. At 14, he felt like a failure due to the movie's reception and found it hard to believe the praise he received for Dead Poets Society. Over time, however, his outlook has grown much more positive.
