Edgar Wright recently held a private screening of his film The Running Man on the Paramount lot, attracting a notable group of filmmakers, including Taika Waititi, Jordan Peele, Ti West, Joseph Kosinski, Barry Jenkins, JT Mollner, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, Joe Dante, and Walter Hill.
A script for Baby Driver 2 is complete, although there is no confirmation yet on whether the original cast will return, including lead Ansel Elgort. Jon Bernthal is rumored to have a bigger role in the sequel.
"There is a script for ‘Baby Driver 2.’ That is something that actually exists," Wright confirmed on the Discourse Podcast. "But most filmmaking depends on factors beyond you — timing, financing, who’s available. You’re not always completely in control of those things."
Wright's next project is uncertain. It might be a Barbarella remake starring Sydney Sweeney or the eagerly awaited Baby Driver 2 sequel. The original Baby Driver performed well, grossing $227 million worldwide on a $34 million budget.
Summary: Edgar Wright’s completed script for Baby Driver 2 signals a possible sequel, while he continues to explore diverse projects following a high-profile screening of The Running Man.
