BluSky AI, a modular data center operator, plans to lease 5 acres in Mulhall, Oklahoma, to build its seventh data center. The lease agreement is for 10 years with two optional extensions of five years each.
Mulhall is situated north of Oklahoma City, which is known as one of the densest data center hubs in the state. BluSky AI will pay an initial base rent of $4,000 per month plus $2,500 per megawatt (MW) monthly, up to 16.3 MW. Additional capacity beyond 16.3 MW will be billed at a reduced rate of $1,000 per MW per month.
BluSky AI, not to be confused with the social media service Bluesky, transitioned from being a mining company named Inception Mining to a modular data center provider in April. The company launched its first data center a month after rebranding by signing an acquisition and power agreement with Digital Asset Management LLC, a Wyoming-based infrastructure partner owned by BluSky’s CEO.
"BluSky AI was previously a mining company known as Inception Mining before rebranding as a modular data center company in April."
Previously, BluSky operated the Clavo Rico gold mine in Honduras, which was sold to Mother Lode Mining.
Author's Summary: BluSky AI is expanding its modular data center footprint with new leases in Oklahoma and several western U.S. states, following its pivot from mining to data center operations in 2024.
