Lord David Frost has been appointed as the new director-general of the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA), a prominent anti-government think tank. The IEA praised Frost for his “clarity of thought, strategic leadership, and ability to deliver institutional change” in their press release.
The announcement did not address Lord Frost’s significant opposition to climate action. Frost serves as a director for Net Zero Watch, the campaign branch of the Global Warming Policy Foundation (GWPF), which is known as the UK’s leading climate science denial organization.
Earlier this week, the Charity Commission launched an investigation into the IEA, urging the think tank to adopt reforms that enhance transparency and reduce political bias.
The IEA retains its charitable status, which provides tax advantages, because it qualifies legally as an “educational” group.

“Rising temperatures are likely to be beneficial.” — Lord David Frost
“Carbon dioxide has been mercilessly demonised” and should be “two or three times” higher. — Global Warming Policy Foundation
Author’s summary: Lord Frost’s appointment highlights persistent climate science denial within influential UK institutions, raising questions about transparency and the politicization of environmental issues.
