Aaron Samuel Yukon, 22, was sentenced to nine months' imprisonment on Friday, November 7, for slashing actor Ryan Lian during an incident outside NEX shopping mall.
Yukon pleaded guilty to causing grievous hurt, with a second charge of possessing a karambit knife considered by the court. The incident took place on November 22 last year, around 6:10 pm near a sheltered walkway by NEX in Serangoon Central.
The argument escalated into a fight where both men fell to the ground and struck each other. During the struggle, Yukon took a karambit knife from his pouch and attacked Lian.
The defence lawyer claimed that it was actor Ryan Lian who instigated the confrontation.
After the attack, Yukon managed to break free and fled the scene.
This case highlights how a brief dispute over staring led to serious violence and legal consequences.
