Paris Saint-Germain's Moroccan full-back Achraf Hakimi will miss at least two months due to an injury suffered during the Champions League match against Bayern Munich. The club confirmed he has a syndesmosis tear with mild deltoid ligament damage in his left ankle, but surgery is not necessary.
Hakimi was stretchered off after a tough tackle by Colombian winger Luis Díaz, who received a red card following a VAR review. The match ended with a 1–2 defeat for PSG.
He was immediately taken to a clinic in Paris, where further tests excluded more severe damage. Despite avoiding surgery, Hakimi is expected to be sidelined for about eight weeks, which likely rules him out of the Africa Cup of Nations starting December 21.
“Fortunately, he won’t need surgery, but he’ll be sidelined for a considerable amount of time,” sources close to the club reported.
The injury also garnered attention and support from Bayern, reflecting the respect Hakimi commands even among opponents.
Author's summary: Achraf Hakimi will avoid surgery but faces an 8-week recovery, causing significant challenges for PSG and Morocco during a crucial season and upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
