Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Alex Vesia did not participate in the 2025 World Series against the Toronto Blue Jays due to a personal matter involving his family.
"It is with a heavy heart that we share that Alex Vesia is away from the team as he and his wife, Kayla, navigate a deeply personal family matter," the Dodgers said. "The entire Dodgers organization is sending our thoughts to the Vesia family, and we will provide an update at a later date."
Although the Blue Jays did not win the series, they honored Alex by wearing his number, 51, on their caps during game 6.
The Dodgers promised to share updates regarding Alex Vesia’s situation and return to baseball at a later time.
