The global girl group KATSEYE, whose popularity surged this year, received nominations for Best New Artist and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the Grammys.
“We grew up watching and dreaming about moments like this, and seeing it become real feels surreal.”
The group expressed gratitude to the Recording Academy and fellow nominees, saying,
“We’re so thankful to the Recording Academy for this recognition and to all the incredible artists nominated alongside us. We can’t believe this; it’s so inspiring to be in such amazing company. Most of all, thank you to our fans, our Eyekons, for supporting us every step of the way.”
KATSEYE faces competition from Olivia Dean, The Marías, Addison Rae, Sombr, Leon Thomas, Alex Warren, and Lola Young for Best New Artist. Last year’s winner, Chappell Roan, introduced the category during the Grammy nomination stream.
The group has experienced significant growth this year, gaining early attention from the Netflix documentary Popstar Academy, which followed their journey from hopefuls to international stars. KATSEYE was formed through the YouTube series Dream Academy, a project by K-pop powerhouse Hybe and Geffen Records aimed at creating the first global girl group.
