Clemson women’s basketball (1-0) travels to Macon for its first road game of the season against Mercer (1-0) on Thursday night. The Tigers aim to open the season 2-0 for the fourth straight year, and for the second consecutive time under head coach Shawn Poppie.
Mercer comes off a 48-39 road win over UNC Asheville and is also aiming for a 2-0 start.
Clemson leads the all-time series 8-2, dating back to the 1977–78 season. The Tigers claimed the most recent meeting 90-66, and Coach Poppie holds a perfect 5-0 record against Mercer.
Junior guard-forward Rusne Augustinaite scored 19 points, including four three-pointers, guiding Clemson to a strong 76-38 season-opening win over USC Upstate. Senior guards Mia Moore (17 points) and Taylor Johnson-Matthews (12 points) also contributed double-digit performances.
