Shoshana Bean, known for her role as Elphaba on Broadway's Wicked from 2005 to 2006, revealed her reason for not watching Wicked: Part 1 despite the upcoming release of the sequel, Wicked: For Good.
At the New York Restoration Project Hulaween Gala on October 24, Bean told PEOPLE that she has purposely held off on watching the first film so she can enjoy both movies consecutively. She expressed her excitement about this plan, saying,
“I waited until the second, so I could watch them back-to-back.”
Bean is particularly eager to see the song “No Good Deed” on the big screen. She described the song as “very cinematic” and shared her anticipation for its film adaptation to bring new life beyond what is possible on stage. She stated,
“I would love to see it have more life than what a stage is capable of doing. I could not even possibly imagine to the extent that Jon Chu’s genius can dream, can create.”
The sequel, Wicked: For Good, is set to hit theaters this November, marking a special moment for fans including Bean.
