Pete Davidson Praises the 'Infinitely More Talented' Eddie Murphy: 'Gets What I'm Going Through'

Pete Davidson Praises Eddie Murphy's Talent and Guidance

Pete Davidson shared his admiration for his colleague and fellow "Saturday Night Live" alum, Eddie Murphy, calling him "infinitely more talented" and someone who truly understands his experiences. In an interview with People, Davidson reflected on their connection and working together on the 2025 comedy film "The Pickup."

"The thing that’s really cool about Eddie is we were both some of the youngest cast members ever," Davidson explained. "And we just have a lot of similarities in our personal lives too. Our fathers both passed when we were young, and it’s why we got into comedy."

He noted that despite being in the entertainment industry for years, advice rarely resonates like it does when it comes from someone who has shared similar milestones.

"No one gets it more than him, just in an age timeline. I’m not saying I did the same things as him, because he was infinitely more talented and accomplished so much more, but it’s great to get advice from someone who literally gets what I’m going through," Davidson said. "It was really special, and I’m fortunate for that opportunity."

Discussing "The Pickup," Davidson described collaborating with Murphy as a dream come true.

"Working with him was a blast," he said. "If ten-year-old me knew this would happen, he’d be like, ‘Oh my God.’ It’s something I still can’t totally believe."

The two comedians teamed up under the direction of Tim Story for the heist movie, marking a memorable chapter in both of their careers.
