The American Hockey League (AHL) regular season has started with familiar teams in action. The Utah Mammoth began strongly with a seven-game winning streak, while their minor league affiliate, the Tucson Roadrunners, experienced a mixed start.
In October, the Roadrunners posted a 3-4-1 record. Most of their games—six out of eight—were played at their home venue, the Tucson Convention Center. Currently, the team holds fifth place in the Pacific Division.
The Roadrunners opened the season on the road by splitting a two-game series with the Ontario Reign. They then faced Calgary Wranglers, Manitoba Moose, and Bakersfield Condors at home, finishing with a 2-3-1 record in those six games.
Last season, scoring was a challenging area for the Roadrunners. However, with several new players joining the roster this year, offense has significantly improved. Midway through their six-game homestand, six players were averaging at least one point per game. Although scoring pace slowed towards the end of the month, the team’s offense remained notable given that half the roster were newcomers.
Daniil But has emerged as one of the standout stories early in the season.
Author’s summary: The Roadrunners showed mixed results but promising offensive strides in October, fueled by key new players adapting quickly to the team.
