Paul Rodgers, founding member and frontman of Bad Company, shared via social media that he will not attend the band's induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on November 8. At 75 years old, Rodgers stated that he must prioritize his health over performing.
"My hope was to be at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and to perform for the fans, but at this time I have to prioritize my health," Rodgers wrote. "I have no problem singing, it's the stress of everything else."
Despite his strong desire to participate, Rodgers recalled his health challenges in previous interviews, mentioning two major strokes in 2016 and 2019, along with eleven minor strokes. However, he did not provide further details about his current condition in the statement.
Simon Kirke, Rodgers's longtime bandmate in both Free and Bad Company, had revealed plans to reunite on stage for the ceremony during a recent episode of the podcast Lyndsanity! with Lyndsey Parker. Following Rodgers's announcement, Kirke confirmed he will perform at the induction without him.
They are the only surviving members of the original Bad Company lineup, as bassist Raymond "Boz" Burrell and guitarist Mick Ralph passed away within the last two decades.
