Uros Medic delivered a stunning first-round TKO victory over Muslim Salikhov during their welterweight fight at UFC Vegas 111 on Saturday night. Both fighters, seasoned veterans, entered the bout seeking to reaffirm their place in the competitive 170-pound division.
Salikhov (22-5), at 41 years old, came into the fight riding a three-bout winning streak, highlighted by first-round knockouts over Kenan Song and Carlos Leal. Medic (11-3) entered following a victory against Gilbert Urbina in August and held previous wins over fighters like Tim Means, Matthew Semelsberger, Omar Morales, Aalon Cruz, and Urbina.
In the opening round, Medic immediately applied pressure as Salikhov countered with a series of high kicks. Maintaining composure, Medic used sharp, accurate strikes from range before landing a clean left hand that dropped Salikhov, ending the bout just over a minute into the fight.
“Once he landed that, it was all she wrote for Salikhov.”
Salikhov aimed for a knockout of his own, but Medic’s timing and precision allowed him to find the counter first. The victory marked Medic’s second consecutive highlight-reel finish at the UFC APEX, both concluding at the 1:03 mark.
