Ariarne Titmus has shared the one question that no one has asked her since she announced the end of her competitive swimming career.
In a revealing interview on the Stellar podcast Something To Talk About, the four-time Olympic gold medallist described how surprised she was by the public's response to her retirement decision.
“I knew it would be a shock to a lot of people. It was quite out of the blue,” Titmus told host Sarrah Le Marquand.
She added that the reaction was far beyond what she had expected.
“The morning I hit post [on the announcement] at 8am Brisbane time, within half an hour, all over social media there were already articles and clips.”
Despite her high profile, Titmus noted that no one has asked her why she chose to retire while still at the peak of her career.
“I am at the top of my game, I’m still only 25, and I was concerned that the wider public wouldn’t understand my reasoning. But I haven’t had one person asking me why.”
Titmus expressed satisfaction with her swimming accomplishments and readiness to embrace new opportunities and challenges beyond the pool.
She revealed a key moment that influenced her decision came while providing commentary at the World Championships in July.
Ariarne Titmus, a dominant Olympic swimmer, surprised many by retiring at her peak, emphasizing that no one has yet asked her the reasons behind this bold choice.
