Snow Squalls Possible to Start the Week

Environment Canada has issued the season’s first snow squall watch, warning that travel could become hazardous due to sharply reduced visibility. The alert applies to Sarnia-Lambton, Perth County, Huron County, Chatham-Kent, Southern Bruce County, and Elgin County.

“Lake effect snow off Lake Huron is expected to begin impacting Lambton County tonight (Sunday) and possibly locations near the eastern shore of Lake Huron on Monday morning,” Environment Canada said. “Snow squalls may extend towards Lake Erie as well. Northerly winds are expected to become northwesterly late Monday into early Tuesday. As a result, lake effect snow will further impact areas to the east and southeast of Lake Huron.”

Environment Canada notes that affected areas could see 15 to 30 centimetres of lake effect snow by Tuesday. Drivers are urged to remain cautious and anticipate sudden reductions in visibility and deteriorating road conditions.
