Two Drown in Dandenong Creek
A woman and a child drowned after falling into a waterway in Dandenong this afternoon.
A witness reported that two people were swept away in Dandenong Creek near Allan Street at about 3:45 PM. It is believed the woman entered the water to help the child but also got into trouble.
Police conducted a search, found the unconscious pair, pulled them from the water, and began CPR. Despite the efforts of emergency services, both were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The identities of the victims are not yet known. Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
