Before announcing Sunday’s game between his former team, the Houston Texans, and the Jacksonville Jaguars, CBS Sports analyst J.J. Watt, 36, had a touching moment on the field with his 3-year-old son, Koa, at NRG Stadium. Watt played for Houston for 10 seasons, making the encounter particularly meaningful.
“It was the best. This was such a cool morning for me to have my wife, Kealia, and my son, Koa, out on the field. Obviously, so many memories in this building, so many great throwbacks, and to see him [Koa] run into that end zone, the same one I’ve run into before, just unbelievable feeling this morning.”
Following the 2020 season, Watt requested his release and signed a two-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals. During the 2021 season, he suffered a shoulder injury requiring surgery. In October 2022, Watt revealed he experienced atrial fibrillation and needed his heart shocked to restore normal rhythm.
“I had my heart shocked back into rhythm.”
Such resilience highlights Watt’s determination on and off the field.
J.J. Watt revisited the field where he built his legacy, sharing a heartfelt moment with his son while reflecting on a career marked by excellence and resilience through injuries and health challenges.
