Davina McCall, 58, shared on social media that she had a biopsy after discovering a lump, followed by a lumpectomy to remove the cancer just weeks ago. Her fans and celebrity friends like Amanda Holden and Penny Lancaster sent their support.
In November 2024, Davina announced she was diagnosed with a colloid cyst, a rare benign brain tumour, and underwent surgery to remove it. In her announcement video, she emphasized her cancer was caught "very very early" but planned to have five days of radiotherapy in January as a precaution to stay cancer-free.
"I was very angry when I found out, but I let go of that and I feel in a much more positive place now."
She expressed gratitude to the doctors, nurses, her family, and fiancé Michael Douglas.
Davina urged others to be vigilant:
"The message here, is know your boobs. Sending out huge love."
She first shared her diagnosis at her charity event, Dine With Davina, in Southampton. She recounted how Lorraine Kelly had placed signs reminding people to check their breasts, inspiring her routine self-checks that led to the discovery.
"Lorraine Kelly had put signs on the backs of all the doors saying ‘check your breasts’ and every time I went for a wee I did that. It was still there, and then one morning I saw myself in the mirror and thought ‘I’m going to get that looked at.’"
Davina McCall’s early cancer detection story highlights the importance of regular self-examination and the support from loved ones during challenging health journeys.
