Greater Dandenong Council Wins Sustainability Award

Greater Dandenong City Council was honoured for its strong dedication to environmental sustainability by winning the 2025 Cities Litter Award at the 43rd Annual Keep Australia Beautiful Victoria Tidy Towns & Cities Sustainability Awards.

The awards highlight environmental achievements and community engagement throughout Victoria, recognising projects that empower people, promote behavioural change, protect natural resources, reduce waste, and involve youth and Indigenous groups in building resilience.

Award-Winning Campaign

The Council’s Waste Services team received the award for their campaign “Bin It or Take It Home With You,” which educates residents on proper litter disposal and raises awareness of the damage litter causes to the environment.

“This award is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our Waste Services Team, not just for this project, but for the work they do every day,” said Council Executive Director City Futures, Sanjay Manivasagasivam. “We’re proud to lead initiatives that make our city cleaner.”

Community Impact

The campaign focuses on fostering responsibility and cleanliness in public spaces, encouraging a culture where littering is discouraged and environmental care is a shared community goal.
