WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen appeared on MSNBC’s Deadline: White House to criticize President Donald Trump for failing to lead bipartisan negotiations to preserve affordable health care and end the ongoing Republican government shutdown.
Senator Rosen emphasized the urgent need to extend the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA) enhanced premium tax credits to keep health care costs manageable for families. She referenced a recent analysis by the non-partisan Kaiser Family Foundation, which revealed that health care premiums for working families could more than double without the extension of these tax credits this year.
Nearly 95,000 residents in Nevada directly benefit from these tax credits.
“Donald Trump is in charge of the White House. He’s actually Speaker of the House these days, as he alleges himself, and he’s pretty much in control of the Senate. He could stop this shutdown right now by calling a group of Democrats and Republicans together to work on preserving the accessibility and affordability of health care for tens of millions of Americans who are about to fall off a cliff at the end of this year. Whether you get your health care on the exchanges or through your employer, everybody’s healthcare is going up.”
Senator Rosen calls on President Trump to end the shutdown by fostering bipartisan efforts to extend vital ACA tax credits and protect affordable health care for millions of Americans.
