Greenpeace Supports Hospital in Chortkiv with Solar Power

A total of 150 solar panels, obtained through the “Solar for Ukraine” competition, have been installed to provide electricity to the maternity and infectious disease wards of the Chortkiv Central City Hospital in Ternopil region.

Installation and Capacity

Two grid-connected solar power stations with a combined capacity of 50 kW are now operational. The maternity ward's station has a capacity of 30 kW, while the infectious disease ward's station reaches 20 kW.

Innovative Installation by Women

This project is the first in Ukraine where women, trained under the “Solar Power Plant Installer” program, took part in installing municipal solar stations.

Impact and Savings

The solar installations are expected to generate up to 50,000 kWh annually, reducing the hospital's electricity expenses by over 400,000 UAH per year.

Equipment and Partnership

The hospital received the solar panels and inverters thanks to winning the “Sun for Ukraine” competition, organized by Greenpeace Ukraine in partnership with the German BIOHAUS-Stiftung foundation.

“We are proud to support Chortkiv — a city with a truly forward-looking mindset.”
