“This is unbelievable” – Lucky Woman Wins £250k After Forgetting to Cancel Lottery

A woman from Havant is in disbelief after winning the postcode lottery, having intended to cancel her direct debit but forgetting to do so. Juliette Spencer-Besant, 47, won £250,000 when her Lockerley Road postcode was selected as the weekly Millionaire Street prize by the People’s Postcode Lottery.

The winning postcode, PO9 2LD, covers a nine-storey block of flats in Leigh Park. Three ticket holders from this postcode each received £250,000.

Juliette described it as “the luckiest thing that’s ever happened to me.”

Surprise and Reaction

When Postcode Lottery ambassador Judie McCourt appeared at her door with the cheque, Juliette was stunned.

“There was disbelief when I saw the cheque and then a wave of emotion came over me. But I managed to pull it together.”

Forgetting to Cancel

Juliette had planned to cancel her lottery subscription months earlier but was distracted by work and other commitments.

“I was going to cancel a couple of months back, but I’m really bad at personal stuff. I was going through direct debits and bits and pieces. Promotion came up at work and I’ve been working for that for the last two months and never got round to it.”

She managed to cancel some subscriptions, but life got in the way of cancelling the Postcode Lottery.

“It’s probably the luckiest thing that’s ever happened to me. I’ll keep playing now.”

Plans for the Prize

Juliette intends to invest her winnings wisely but also wants to treat herself first.
