The Belleville Senators were unable to score as they lost 3-0 against the Utica Comets in the opening game of their weekend series.
Both teams created multiple opportunities early on, but Utica struck first. The Comets’ power play succeeded following a sharp passing sequence from Seamus Casey and Xavier Parent, who set up Matyas Melovsky to give Utica a 1-0 lead. Belleville managed only 5 shots on goal compared to Utica's 15, while successfully killing three penalties.

The two teams will meet again soon in this 10-game series, with Belleville returning to Adirondack Bank Center next Friday for the continuation of their New York State road trip.
