Nine Entertainment has started reducing staff in its Streaming and Broadcast division, impacting about 50 roles. The cuts primarily affect senior on-air and production personnel across various markets.
The initial round of redundancies is part of a wider cost-saving effort by the network. Senior on-air and production staff are among those affected by the changes as Nine implements its significant restructure.
“I reckon the biggest story in Adelaide right now is the way poor old Kate Collins has been treated by Channel 9,” said FIVEAA’s David Penberthy live on air. “I mean treated by Channel 9 nationally. Penberthy criticized the way the cuts were handled but also acknowledged the commercial pressures facing television in 2025.
Nine Entertainment’s job cuts in its streaming and broadcast sectors have stirred local backlash, highlighting the tension between cost-saving efforts and community expectations.
