Braddon MP Craig Garland Apologizes for Drug-Driving Conviction

Independent MP Craig Garland has apologized after being sentenced for driving with cannabis in his system.

Garland received a six-month driving ban and a fine of $1,096 after pleading guilty to the charge in June.

I know I did the wrong thing and I’m not making any excuses for it.

He was caught during a roadside drug test on November 2 last year and acknowledged that as an elected official, he is expected to meet higher standards.

As a member of parliament, I have a higher standard of behaviour expected of me and an example to set and I and the everyday Tasmanians know that I am not above the law.

Garland apologized for letting the community down and falling short of public expectations.
