Shoplifter Fined for Stealing Expensive Bottle of Rum
A 33-year-old man, Andrew Shepheard, was fined $500 and ordered to pay $90 in compensation for stealing a bottle of rum from Dan Murphy's Bathurst.
According to the court, Shepheard put the bottle under his jumper and left without paying, an act that was caught on camera.
"An expensive bottle of rum, sergeant, because it comes with court costs,"
said Magistrate Arthur Aguirre during the sentencing. Shepheard had recently completed parole and was not present in court, having entered a guilty plea.
