If print is not dead, who’s keeping it alive? To find out, we shifted our focus from designers and artists to the printmakers and presses behind their projects.

We spoke to printmakers about the next generation of printmaking and its potential future. The work of printmakers is rooted in rich crafts and traditions, often carried out in collaboration with the art and design world, yet it goes largely unseen.

At London-based studio Make-Ready, founder Thomas Murphy has been crafting tangible visual worlds since 2016. The studio, which started in Murphy's South London garage, has become the world's largest silkscreen print studio dedicated to fine-art.

As I walk around Make-Ready, several screen prints undergo an insanely laborious process of production, the craft of which is pretty much unparalleled at this scale.
