Phoenix Weekend Rainfall Breaks Record

Phoenix experienced record-breaking weather on Saturday, with 0.7 inches of rain falling at Sky Harbor Airport, surpassing the previous record of 0.3 inches set nearly a century ago on October 11.

According to Gabriel Lojero, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service,

“Most areas got anywhere between a quarter to three-quarters of an inch of rainfall with some areas — isolated areas — over an inch of rain,"
he said.

The agency has issued a flood watch for Phoenix that extends to Sunday night, although no heavy rainfall has hit the areas of Globe and Miami, which were devastated by intense flooding last month.

Author's summary: Phoenix breaks rainfall record set nearly a century ago.
