Council Considers New Rules
The City Council workshop on Oct. 6 discussed revising several ordinances, including those governing backyard birds, electric bikes, and mass gatherings.
“I’m wondering could you please ... send somebody over there to remove the rooster. It’s against the law.”
Suzy Shepard and her sister Judith Felch, residents of 40 Birch Ave., presented an audio recording of a rooster crowing, which they hear every day as early as 3:30 a.m.
- Revising ordinances for owning roosters and chickens
- Regulating mass gatherings
- Restricting bikes on sidewalks
- A larger land-use rewrite
This is not the first time the council has addressed the issue of roosters in the neighborhood.
