A home in the Nile Creek area, south of Bowser, was destroyed by fire after a vehicle crashed into the property.
According to Const. Kenning, while Oceanside RCMP were en route to the scene, they were updated that the home was "engulfed in flames" and that the owner was being assaulted. "All parties knew each other," Kenning said.

One suspect was taken into custody. Fire Chief Mark Taylor with Bow Horn Bay Fire Department reported that the home's interior on both floors has been "gutted" but no other homes were damaged.
