Although they didn’t score first, the Wolves took the lead 20-10 at halftime. In the third quarter, Daniel Britt made a notable play, faking a handoff and passing to DJ Smith, making it 27-17.
After UMD reduced the deficit to three, Britt made another key play, keeping the ball and running 28 yards to increase the lead to 10. With under two minutes left, Kyle Walljasper found Luke Dehnicke in the endzone.
The Bulldogs recovered an onside kick and attacked again, but their efforts were thwarted when a pass was intercepted at the sideline.
This loss marked the first time UMD lost back-to-back games in the series since 2000.
