A £100 million project to refurbish over 300 Electrostar trains has been completed by Govia Thameslink (GTR) staff at the Selhurst depot.
The project, which took five years to complete, is thought to be the largest fleet upgrade in modern times and was carried out entirely in-house by GTR staff.
The refurbishment process typically involves multiple companies, including the train builder, owner, operator, and maintenance company.
By bringing the job in-house, GTR was able to utilize its existing Selhurst depot and complete the project without sending a single train off-site.
No third-party refurbishment company was involved in the project.
